Intertwined

Have you ever been intertwined with someone so innately,
That every effort to branch out only brings you closer together?
I have been pondering over this lately,
That we have been intertwined with each other.
Yes, it was you, who had for many years
Kept the fragile strands closely bound.
But you can’t deny that when you sought to disentangle, I fought tears
To be content only when you were found.
Just as branches of a tree grow through time,
But their roots keep them near,
These tangled strings of a melodious chime
Have remained dear;
Will remain dear.
